BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
by Neil Simon
Neil Simon’s first runaway Broadway hit, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
follows the lives of newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter as they adjust
to married life in a tiny Greenwich Village apartment. Paul is a
lawyer wound a little too tight, while Corie is a free spirit
bubbling over with romantic notions. In typical Simon style, all
manner of comic chaos ensues as the young couple’s marriage begins
to collapse under the pressure of a five-flight walk up, a skylight
that leaks snow, an eccentric neighbor who must climb through their
apartment to get to his, and Corie’s misguided attempts to marry off
her mother.
